Retrospective ’17 – or the 3000km walk

timeAs I was thinking what to write as my last article of the year, I came across a few questions:

What to write?

What to show?

Should it be a regular type article, or like a retrospective?

Should I show just pictures?

Is it any point to make an article in the first place?

Of course, by reading the tile, I did what the majority do this time around: A retrospective of 2017 🙂

So how to start the article now?

While on the train, I was still thinking at this and also at how much I walked this year? Most weekends I went out hiking or just discovering new cities and places in Spain and I must have done something like 1,500 or 2,000km?

In fact, this winter ( the 2nd time I am outside Romania, my home country) I brought my sister to stay with me for more than 2 weeks in Spain, Galicia. On the first week, we saw Santiago, Baiona, Segovia, Valladolid and a few more cities, totaling 150 km of combined walking and hiking.

So I took my phone and added all the kilometers done since 1st of January 2017 and as it turns out, I did 2,959.57 km all year long, with my personal best 39.1km on 25th of March.

That is almost twice the most pessimistic value I was first thinking. 🤔

So knowing how much I walked, and that I had with me a camera all the time in the pocket or shoulder, my last question was, which are my best photos from this year, that I posted?

These are, what I think, the best places/moments of 2017:

Now, I also have to say that it has been the busiest year of my life! I have worked hard (I am an engineer and I have a great job), discovered beautiful places and had great moments at work and outside.

I took more photos than ever before, since just this year I bought my first ever, DSLR Camera. It is also the first year in which I bought different lenses and so far  2 are bad and if I am to sell them, I lose too much money.

With this blog and the Facebook page, I have communicated for the first time with people outside my circle, telling each week a new story and receiving feedback.

Thank you all for making part of this story and I wish you all a Happy New Year 🍾!!!

MiDe.
